Creating Alone vs. Collaboration
Over the years (granted, there haven't been that many) most of the jobs that I've had have been solo jobs. But going it alone comes with a cost. It robs you the opportunity to get invaluable feedback and insight. It robs you of the talent that other people bring to the table. It robs you of the camaraderie that inevitably forms. It robs you of a network of people who can vouch for you. It robs you of the fulfillment of being a part of something bigger than yourself. And it robs you of the satisfaction of teamwork.
I recently celebrated my 1-year work-iversery with an insanely talented creative team and I've realized that over the past year, not only have I created better work, but I've enjoyed the creative process more! Surrounding yourself and working with other people who are more talented than you are, is the single quickest way to learn, create and advance.
