The Counter-Culture Secret about Giving

Much of what I read is tailored toward the life hackers, the entrepreneurs, the eccentric, the bold and the adventurous. In my readings, I have noticed a trend that seems to tie all of these thoughts together:

To receive you must first be willing to give.

I can assure you that (as evidenced by their fruits) a majority of these authors are not Christians however, they have come to realize this Biblical truth that permeates societies because it is so deeply rooted into our nature as humans. As being made in the image of God.

As Christians, are we not called to give and to give abundantly out of the excess of grace which God has shown us?

God, speaking to the Israelites in the book of Malachi, says

Test me in this [...] if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such a blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it...
— Malachi 3:10

Here's the counter-culture part that no one wants to hear:

If we give, God will provide... so that we will give again.

You see, giving is not a means to an end as some of the authors I mentioned might have you believe. Giving is a means to a means to a means to a means... etc. Its a cycle, rewarding in more ways than one.
