Where do people go to find new up-and-coming products if they are either not tech or wouldn't appeal to tech people?

For example, a new type of organic weed killer. Or a hand-held carpet cleaner that doesn't require a million gallons of water. Or a set of knitting needles that double as chopsticks... I don't know, just making stuff up. But where would you launch products like that??
